I hadn't heard of Vanilla before, but I liked the concept of a simple "vanilla" forum (kinda like this one). Many forums out there now have so many useless features. We use Community Server where I work, and their latest version is like a mini Facebook: friends, walls, personal photo galleries and wikis and blogs. Very cool software if your community is looking for all that, but for us its just overkill. It creates more help calls from confused customers.

Anyway Chops, I know at a previous time you were exploring selling your forum software, which is a crowded marketplace, but I thought you might find Vanilla's approach of stripping features interesting.
I do still have plans on releasing my forum software in some capacity or another. I've been thinking more of an open source license, though I'm not really sure at this point. It's a "down the road" thing.

And no doubt, there are lots of forums out there, but there's always room for one more. I'm not looking to dominate the forum world or anything, but personally, I don't like using other forum software. Way too much clicking.
