I use to use Azureus till it when to Vuze now I use Utorrent but I am missing all the advanced features that came with Azureus is there anything else out there that people like that have a lot of advanced features? Thanks.

I use both. I like how lightweight uTorrent is, but vuze does have more features.

Depending what features you are looking for, you might dig on Deluge. It's cross-platform and runs on python so you don't have to use that memory-stealing java mess that is azuerus/vuze. I don't really care for the newest version of Deluge though, it seems to run pretty slow. The RSS importer is also in alpha, and while it does work fine for me, a lot of people report problems with it.

I've read a lot of good things about Transmission too, and I'm probably going to give it a spin later tonight. Since upgrading, my upload speeds have been shit with Deluge. I don't know if my ISP is filtering me now or if it's the new version... of course, unless your on a Mac or Linux, you can skip that one.

I've also used ABC in the past and thought pretty highly of it. I don't recall it having a lot of "features" though. I've also seen a lot of good talk about and people using Bitcomment.

FYI, most of the peers I'm connecting to these days are running uTorrent. What specifically do you think you are missing?

Some of the stuff I liked was to block single users IP's, control single users uploads and downloads speeds, see what users have downloaded and what they have over what I have. Also to see what part of the download they are pulling from me and I am receiving from them. As right now there are about there about 9 peers and I cant tell if any of them have what I want.

There are a bunch of little things like that it just more single user control I would say over all is what I am looking for.

I reset my router and now my torrents are flying again. I can once again endorse Deluge!

I have no idea what you are talking about saying "what they have" and "what I need". Torrents don't work that way.... as far as I know. Unless you are just looking at the chunks being moved around I guess. Deluge doesn't tell you all that; it'll tell you what percentage each peer has and the speeds you are downloading and uploading to that peer, but it doesn't show any of the chunks besides your own.

The one feature I was missing when I left Azureus/Vuze was an RSS importer, and Deluge has me covered there. I add the feeds, make rules (via regular expressions) and it automatically downloads the files when they are posted to the feed. Great for use with sites like eztv.it and baka-updates.com. I also use that to import from my mininova wishlist; I add a torrent to the wishlist from any machine (as long as I'm logged in) and I know it'll automatically start downloading at home.

I really, really like Deluge. It's so lean (it's gotten heavier, but still way better than Vuze) and works really well. It has all the features *I* need (bandwidth limiting (total and per torrent), connection limiting (total and per torrent), rss feed importing and blocklist importing) and it's easy on the system resources.

To explain ""what they have" and "what I need"" it was cool because it would break the torrent down to a set of all the pieces that made up the torrent. Those pieces would be different colors say blue for what I have download, red for that I need, orange for currently uploading, brown for currently downloading, tan would be that both you and the peer have that piece, and in the middle it had a number saying how many pieces there were available in the swam. It was neat to see who had what. I miss that and the controls to block individuate users. Does Deluge allow blocking of individuate users?

Why do you want to block individual users?

Sometimes when there are alot of people in the swam I block there IP's to cut back to about 50 users or so. And because I can.

With utorrent, you can set a maximum number of connections either globally, or per torrent (And you can even change it for specific torrents).

I don't see why anyone would need to block *specific* connections.

Yeah, same with Deluge. Sounds like you do all kinds of un-needed peer management on your end. Just let it do its thing man!
