Didn't realize this was such a big issue. Don't know if it had anything to do with it, but last weekend Sorrell sent me a text that I didn't get for like 2 hours.

“It’s been a challenging year for us,” said John Donovan, the chief technology officer of AT&T. “Overnight we’re seeing a radical shift in how people are using their phones,” he said. “There’s just no parallel for the demand.”

Overnight? Really?! The phone has been out for just over 2 years. They've had that much time to catch up. They knew the phone was a hit, they knew users would be consuming tons of data on their network as a result, and yet they did very little until now to keep up. Now they sit back and day that it happened overnight like there was nothing they could do about it. Morons.

Indeed, a recent survey by Pricegrabber.com found that 34 percent of respondents pinpointed AT&T as the primary reason for not buying an iPhone.

Also, I would venture to guess this has more to do with the cost of the service than the quality of their network. ATT's network is actually pretty solid in my experience, but the cost of operating an iphone on the network is ridiculous!
